Yeovil Town head to the Valley on Tuesday to face Championship side Charlton Athletic in first round of the Carling Cup.

The Glovers face a difficult challenge against the Championship outfit who opened their season with a 2-0 win against Swansea.

Former Yeovil player, Alan Pardew, currently manages Athletic who are pushing for promotion this season after dropping out of the Premiership two seasons ago.

In their first season back in the Championship, the Addicks finished in a disappointing 11th place and their expectant fans will have high hopes for the underachievers this season.

Recent Meetings

The last time the Glovers met Charlton was in their epic 4th round FA Cup tie at the Valley.

The Glovers pushed the, then Premiership, side right to the end and unfortunately lost out 3-2.

The scorers on the day for Yeovil were Paul Terry and Welsh international Arron Davies, but goals from Bryan Hughes, Francis Jeffers and Shaun Bartlett put Gary Johnson's battling side out of the cup.

Tuesday will mark the fourth time that Yeovil have faced Charlton and will hope to gain their first win over the Londoners.

Recent Form

After a promising pre-season Yeovil began their League One season with a 1-1 draw with Walsall, Charlton on the other hand gained a 2-0 win against newly promoted Swansea.

Charlton enjoyed a good pre-season also, winning all but one of their 7 games. The loss coming against Spanish La Liga outfit, Athletic Club Bilbao.
