Yeovil Town Reserves 6   Salisbury City Reserves 0

A Yeovil Town Reserves side packed with trialists easily overcame a Salisbury City side at Huish Park this afternoon.

Manager Russell Slade used the match to cast his eye over several newcomers including Elvis Hammond, Gary Roberts, Rostyn Griffiths, John Halls, Les Thompson, Gareth O'Connor and Andy Welsh.

First teamers Nathan Jones and Lloyd Owusu also took part in what turned into an easy afternoon for The Glovers.

After a quiet first twenty minutes Elvis Hammond ran into the Salisbury box but fired over when in a good position.

Lloyd Owusu was next up to test Porter in the Salisbury goal but he just failed to connect with a cross.

On 24 minutes Andy Welsh took on three defenders after a run from his own half but Porter was alert enough to collect the ball.

Welsh's momentum took him into the advertising hoardings but as an unsuspecting Porter rolled the ball out to clear, the ever alert Welsh nipped in from behind in to score from close range into an empty net.

Salisbury assistant manager Widdrington came on for Sangare and Lloyd Irish had to be on his toes to push a cross from Young onto the bar.

Elvis Hammond made it 2-0 in the 39th. minute when after a strong run into the box he lobbed Porter from close range.

A great run on 42 minutes by Les Thompson ended with a great strike to make it 3-0 at half time.

The second half saw a nasty looking clash between Hammond and Porter as they both ran for a loose ball, but Hammond managed to carry on.

John Halls had by now moved into midfield after his role in the back four in the first half and Yeovil had to rely on Lloyd Irish who made three important saves as Salisbury try to hit back.

In the 69th. minute a cross from Griffiths was headed in by Mawene to make it 4-0.

Minutes later Hallshimself should have scoredfrom close in but he eventually found Griffiths who lashed home from 15 yards out to make it 5-0.

In the last minute Elvis Hammond made it 6-0 after a strong run and shot beyond Porter.

Of the many trialists on display it would not be surprising to see the manager having an extended look at Welsh, Jarrett, Mawene and Hammond who all looked lively while Halls had a steady and reliable afternoon.

Yeovil Town Reserves: Irish, Griffiths, Jones, Halls, Brown, Roberts, Thompson, O'Connor, Owusu, Hammond, Welsh. Subs: Moyce, Mawene, Jarrett
